$8,000

This past Saturday we hosted our 6th Annual Competition for a Cure event. This was the first year that we changed the format and it turned out to be a great success. 115 runners and walkers supported breast cancer research and helped raise $8,000 for Susan G. Komen and breast cancer research.

I just want to say a huge thank you to Jenn Hart, our honoree, and my two interns for all the efforts to make this event what it was.

In the past 6 years we have raised over $47,000 for breast cancer research.

I hope that eventually I will not have a event to host. That through all of our efforts my daughters do not have to worry about a world that has this disease that has affected so many.

In the meantime, we will continue to fight! We will continue to push forward! We will continue to support and we will eventually win!

Why reading this email is important…

This Saturday marks the 6th year of our breast cancer event, Competition for a Cure.

Unfortunately I think we all know someone close to us that has been affected by this disease. It affects millions of women that are grandmothers, mothers, sisters, aunts, cousins and friends.

This event is our part to help support research to rid the world of this disease. 100% of the monies go toward the research.

This year we changed the format from the previous years events. We went from a obstacle course to a 5k run or 1 mile walk. We thought it would help to get more people involved and ultimately raise more money for the cause.

Please join us this Saturday for the event at Adler Park in Libertyville at 10am.

There is more…

After the event we have been invited to celebrate at Downing’s restaurant. Not only have they been gratuitous enough to donate a portion of the sales for the day back to the event they have allowed us to hold or raffle and silent auction items there as well. We have over 12 auction items ranging from a $10 value to over $600. Come get a bite to eat and maybe win a weekend trip for spa services and golf in the Wisconsin Dells!

Even if you can not make the event or after party you can still make a donation. Make a check payable to Susan G Komen and send it to:
1753 Northwind Blvd Libertyville, IL 60048

Happy Birthday

This past weekend we celebrated my daughters 3rd birthday. I wanted to share two things with you.

First, kids get excited about things we would never think to appreciate. They live in the moment. We came home from the store with batches of balloons and she freaked out… over balloons. We showed her the cake and she was jumping up and down like a pogo stick. There is a major lesson in this. We have a tendency to overlook certain things in our life as customary or expected. It could be we expect the water to turn on at our house and for it to be clean and for it to be either hot or cold. We expect a spouse to have meals ready or do laundry or fix the cable. It comes down to appreciation and gratitude. Being in a state of gratitude creates positive energy around you. It attracts other good things. In the example of my daughter, everyone that was there could not help but smile or feel joy in her reaction to the balloons and the cake. We fed off of her positive energy that she created. In your own life, I invite you to find the appreciation in all you do and all you have.

Second, my oldest daughter is only 20 months ahead of her so she still has a hard time grasping that this is her sisters special day. She is not a fan of the spotlight being off of her. So, with that being said, we do our best to show her in some way that she is still special too. In keeping with that theme, I am extending a complementary 30 minute coaching session for anyone interested. Please email info@bewellfitness.com to set up your session.
