It has been a week since the passing of my grandfather.
In many ways it was very sad and in many others it was an awakening of sorts. It helped me asses ways I could improve and how strong someone can really be both mentally and physically. In addition, it reminded me that we only have one body and we should use it, treat it and cultivate it the best we can. It is a gift.
Which leads me to this…
I was looking for something to compete in. I have been an athlete all my life and thought if I can tap into the competitive drive within, it will help me regain some momentum. I hate running distances so those were out. I am not a huge fan of swimming even though I think it is great for you and I am married to one. Basically, there was no competition out there that made any sense for me, so I created my own.
I am calling it the Bad Ass Challenge. It is a combination of strength and conditioning tests which will determine the biggest bad ass. I also decided to use this to honor my grandfather and raise money for the Fallen Patriot Fund. My grandfather was in the Navy and I thought what bigger bad ass then our military.

I hope that in some way you will find a way to be a part of the event whether it be a participant, sponsor, donor or spectator.
