Because I’m 4! (5min read)

My oldest daughter just turned 4 and to celebrate we had family and friends with us this past weekend. Prior to the party she was able to pick her theme and shop for the special plates and cups. We asked her what kind of food she wanted to have and what she wanted her cake to look like as well. We went through almost every detail with her, in other words nothing was a surprise to her… Or so we thought. She got up from a little cat nap and walked downstairs to a house decorated by the very decorations she shopped for, the very cake she wanted and soon to be filled with the very people she wanted. Something clicked for her that made it totally real. It was at that point that she truly realized she was 4. It was also the point where she started looking for anything to measure to show how tall she was saying dad look I’m 4 now. She would do something that was well within her grasp just hours ago and say dad look what I can do because I’m 4. Keep in mind here that nothing she was measuring up to nor touching nor doing was any different just 2 hours ago before she went down for a nap. It is not like we shaved our countertops down a couple inches just to boost her confidence. Believe me she does not need the help in that department.

The point is that she had this in her all along. All it took was some balloons, cake, decorations and a song to have her recognize it. Similarly, you have it in you too. All those things you thought you maybe could not do or maybe did not have the resources to do or the confidence or whatever the limiting factor is, we all have a 4 year old saying Look at what I can do.

I invite you to make some time to be 4 again!
